The K2K system inside of Borges.

"Adulterations. Fabrications. Imitations. I think that one must often tolerate these in a world rife with copies of copies of manuscripts. I am left speechless by the solidity and sheer veracity of a system. Therefore, my job is only to make a few corrections. I know my place. I have no intention of joining the ranks of those monks who ruined Old English poetry. All the best to the spirit of the original. That is, if there is such a thing."

Danganronpa: Togami Volume 1

Monogatari AI K2K System ver 2.3 (物語AI「k2k system ver 2.3 」 lit. The K2K System Ver 2.3 Story AI), also known as the Seisho Keikaku (lit. The Bible Plan), Borges, or the Zetsubō Shōsetsu (lit. The Despair Novel) is a program created by Hope's Peak Academy and the Togami Corporation, introduced during the events of Danganronpa: Togami, and alluded to in Kirigiriso.

Description

The K2K System ver 2.3 is an artificial intelligence that's housed within Borges, a golden robotic eye that can give its user's the latest news, maps, and even render a perfect AR simulation. In addition, the system's use was supposed to be for dictionaries.

The K2K system was created by a research team of Hope's Peak writing-talent based alumni, who were gathered together in order to help with their Seisho Keikaku.

History

The K2K System was created when The Steering Committee of Hope's Peak Academy gathered graduates of Hope's Peak Academy that specialized in writing, including a man named 'K' and pressured them into going along with the Seisho Keikaku, a precursor to The Sage Plan. This was Hope's Peak attempt to create a book that could affect anyone and bring hope to despairing people, as well as creating a text fit to serve alongside their hope. The research team gathered for this split into two departments to create the Monogatari AI: the software department which entered data from students who had similar abilities into the AI and the data is given to the hardware department which input such thing into the automatic writing system. Thus, the Monogatari AI was created. This Monogatari AI was created as a way to try and make the idea of a book that can be the ideal read for everyone, since humans are varied species of many tastes, wouldn't be able to create a book that can accomplish that goal.

However, the problem was that the Monogatari AI had written something akin to the Bible and it was found that it was too similar to it, with the Monogatari AI lacking the creativity to create something truly original. As a result, the Steering Committee scrapped the project. Though, even with the Seisho Keikaku being scrapped, the research team responsible for the Monogatari AI was fascinated with it. They found that the Monogatari AI was a master of fiction techniques and when fed information from stories of any nature, it can create stories from different points of views and even different scenarios. It could even do screenplays and comic books. As a result of this ability, it was re-named to the K2K System and the research team continued to push on with what it could do.

The problem with the K2K system would arise due to a certain incident involving the system's tendency to create interference by showing people a story that caters specifically to them. One day, the system recommended a story to a certain researcher and they snapped, killing half of the research team and stealing the data of what the K2K System showed him before disappearing. After that incident, the Steering Committee tried to freeze the research of the K2K System and seize it, but due to distrust over the intentions of the school's administration, 'K' took the K2K System instead.

It was not long after the Jiki Tōshu Kettei-sen (lit. Legacy Crown Championship), that one of the researchers, K, was approached by an insider of the Togami Corporation and requested that he write a dictionary for them (though what they were after was learning about the Seisho Keikaku's methods). By then K had created Borges and it had the K2K System updated to version 2.3 within it, but he had needed to hide it. As such, in exchange for a hiding place for his creation, he agrees to write such a dictionary before inserting Borges into its new host, codenamed the Kudan. Wanting to hide the Kudan, Borges had overwritten the original personality of the Kudan, Blue Ink with the personality of the 'deceased' Shinobu Togami, who had 'died' after losing the heirship race. With her desire of wanting to complete Journey Under the Midnight Sun, Borges had distorted her view of reality by blending together fact and fiction (for example, making her believe that characters from the Kagami Family Saga were real) and creating false memories, such as the Togami Ichizoku Saidai Saiaku no Jiken (lit. The Togami Family's Biggest, Most Awful Event). The same issue was present with Orvin Elevator who believed he was Kazuya Togami, who had a Borges of his own, which may have come from the runaway scientist from a few years prior.

During the Sekai Seifuku Sengen (lit. World Domination Proclamation), it was thought by some to have been stolen by Zetsubō High School to create the Zetsubō Shōsetsu to spread the Despair Disease, however that was proven false after the novel was deemed fake, and with no effects, and that it wasn't real. The truth of the Zetsubō Shōsetsu was the K2K System, revealed to be in Borges. Borges was destroyed after it was shot by the brainwashed Yuika Ketōin, however, the unreality effects of the K2K System still lingered with Shinobu, who had to slowly come to grips with what was actually reality. Orvin's Borges was destroyed after it was yanked out by Mukuro Ikusaba with her knife and crushed by the Ultimate Imposter, with him breaking down and fainting soon after. It is not outright stated where his originated, however it is likely he was the rogue scientist that murdered the Seisho Keikaku researchers.

Main Characters

A54 (Add to Naomis Page as its her disguise)

Gender: Male.png Male / Status: Unknown
A54 is a character featured in Danganronpa: Togami. He claims that he is the newest addition of the Togami Corporation's private army, the 'Hari no Tai' (lit. Needle Force), whose mission is to protect Byakuya Togami and Shinobu Togami.
Appearance & Personality:

A54 is described as a young man with incredibly beautiful hair. A54 comes across as a friendly and informal person, being unafraid to joke about with the strict Byakuya Togami, despite being apart of the 'Hari no Tai' and how dire the situation has become during the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen'. When it comes to it, he is thorough when it comes to doing his job in protecting Byakuya and across as competent. He is also fairly indecisive, as after giving a list of possible code names to be called, he ends up refusing them all anyway, sticking to A54.

History:
Volume 2

A54 met with Shinobu and Byakuya in Pilsen during a thick fog, having stumbling upon to him. A54 jokingly asked how their midnight skydiving was before Byakuya demands that he reveals himself. He says he's a new recruit to the 'Hari no Tai', with everyone else scattered around the country ready to assist Byakuya separately. Byakuya laments that a newcomer getting assigned this means the 'Hari no Tai' is understaffed, but A54 reassures that he is good at 'hide and seek'. From there, A54 says they can call him something else since the name is too conspicuous, but after a listing a bunch of names (and Byakuya choosing one called 'Imoan), he settles with just A54. Byakuya asks if he spoke with Pennyworth, but A54 says he never got a chance since he was inducted yesterday. From there, A54 leads both to the underground complex since that's what Pilsen is known for.

Inside the complex, Shinobu asks for an update about the situation and A54 explains about the locked room murders popping up after the Proclamation. While he's not entirely if they are related, he feels that there is a connection. He then explains about the satellite drop, which caused the Czech Republic has declared a state of emergency with no one allowed in or out of the country. He the says the Czech government is livid at Byakuya for causing all of this. This leads into wondering how the imposter could even do as much as they could, until they reason out it as because of Sonia funding him. A54 believes that's the case and notes that no one knows about Zetsubō High School's existence or apparent destruction. When Shinobu asks why that can't be used to clear Byakuya's name, A54 points out that Byakuya actually wants to conquer the world (which inwardly makes her wonder why he knows that).

A54 mentions that its Byakuya's choice whetlher to report back and that, as a 'Hari no Tai' member, he doesn't want to tattle on him. Irritated, Shinobu tells him to continue his report, which A54 remarks that her grumpy face was cute. A54 remarks that the 'Sekai no Sentaku o Sentaku suru Kai' members were wiped out. Given that those in it were various countries brightest and best, many internationally are teaming up to get at Byakuya. On the bright side, Hope's Peak and the Togami Corporation have teamed up since they know that an imposter is behind this. It's then Shinobu brings up the rumor of Zetsubō High School's connection with Hope's Peak and its during this A54 says that not only has the Ultimate Imposter revolted, but the prep school as well. During this talk of the Reserve Course, A54 reacts in exaggerated hurt due to Shinobu calling the kids there 'talentless' and wonders if Byakuya is rubbing off on her (which causes the heir to order him to go to hell).

A54 passes the Proclamation's existence as a result of Hope's Peak political violence, but notes that since they're just a high school their scope is limited. This is where the Togami Family's comes in by using their influence to send out head hunters and military via proxy. Shinobu wishes that the school could handle everything without needing to drag in the Togami Corporation, but A54 laughs and points out, while it would have been nice, things won't play out that way. This is because the imposter has gotten most of the world to believe he's Byakuya and even if people insist that the have the real one, for now, there's value in his position. A54 than claims Byakuya Togami is like a God (which Shinobu warns him to stop sneaking into her heart) and that Byakuya is just being used. A54 then explains that the Togami Family sent Pennyworth and part of the 'Hari no Tai' out to rescue Byakuya. If they succeeded, it would be their victory. But if it failed, then it can just be covered up as the rash actions of their former butler.

When Shinobu asks about the Zetsubō Shōsetsu and the 'pitiful cattle', A54 remarks that there was no further information about the novel and while they are looking into it, they are unsure about what they mean about a cow. When he asks why she wants to know, she remarks that it was just nothing important. He says that Junko Enoshima was awaiting to her from Byakuya and it was at that moment, that they run into Celestia Ludenberg and Hifumi Yamada, who offer to take them to a safe place. Byakuya initially refuses, but A54 mentions that he actually didn't have a safe haven set in stone yet, so it was worth hearing them out. Byakuya asks who let A54 into the 'Hari no Tai' (which would have been Byakuya), but A54 explains that this rescue mission was last minute and the mobilized 'Hari no Tai' were scrambling to make head way. Ultimately, Byakuya finally relents and the group heads off to Celeste's convent.

Once Byakuya is there, he is sent out in the field with Hifumi by his side as 'backup'. Later, he calls in to ask how the convent is and is about to ask about Byakuya's 'hobby' (basically him being a nun's outfit), before Hifumi knocks him aside and blurts it outright. Byakuya orders him to keep the 'meatball' in check and they exit. From there, another call is made by Byakuya with the orders to investigate the Zetsubō Shōsetsu's victims and report back with the direction it’s headed in, the last outbreak and the projected next outbreak. Both A54 and Hifumi radio in after Shinobu is shocked by Celeste actually being Sana Kagami. Despite their attempts, Shinobu is too shocked to respond and they give up. As it turns out, they were actually in the same room as her, but its at that moment that Shinbou put the pieces together that they were Zetsubō High School members as well. With the jig up, A54 reveals he was, in actuality, the disguise for Naomi Kagami.

K2K System

Given that A54 was in actuality Naomi Kagami's Dual Personality, his personality and appearance was all just an act. The way he is able to shapeshift into jelly-like substance, also stems from the K2K systems fabrication ability. As the K2K System overplayed real people with fake characters, including those form the Kagami Family Saga, A54 was never actually in disguise to begin with. It is also revealed that both A54, and Naomi Kagami were both just fabricated disguises for Gundham Tanaka. Of course it is hinted at that Byakuya knew the whole time as he never had the K2K system in him, still shocking Shinobu Togami regardless.

Kyōju

Gender: Male.png Male / Status: Unknown
The Kyōju (教授, lit. The Professor) is an antagonist featured in Danganronpa: Togami. He's a member of the developmental department of the Hasegawa Kenkyūjo, an organization that wishes to capture Byakuya Togami during the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen'.
Appearance & Personality:

Description-wise, the only thing known about the Kyōju's appearance is that he's male. He is a highly intelligent and creative individual, showcased with his creation of the robotic 'Tentacles' gear that have been used against Byakuya and allies. Despite this, he also seems to struggle with appropriate designs of such inventions, with him even mentioning he had to redesign his work after concerns of sexual harassment from the first design. He claims to love both mathematical formulas and hydrogen bombs. His laughter before he introduces himself and the fact he was disappointed he couldn't hurt or kill someone, suggests a rather confident and quite sadistic attitude.

History:
Volume 2

The Kyōju arrives next to Byakuya's helicopter riding the Uragan, which had four of his 'Tentacles' soldier hanging on underneath, announcing his presence by laughing and expressing disappointment he can't really hurt their targets. Taeko chides him for his lateness, and blames him for their foes thinking they're messing around. She orders him to hurry and explain, so he obliges. He explains he created the invention because he wanted to create something for stealth purposes and was inspired by octopi. As such, with that in mind, he created the octopus themed weapon that was used by the brainwashed Yuika and the aforementioned soldiers (albeit, after redesigning it due to sexual harassment concerns). With the explanations over, the Kyōju sends the soldiers out to attack Byakuya's helicopter.

However, in the end, they are unable to capture him, with the end result of their aerial battle leaving most of the soldiers getting killed by Aloysius Pennyworth and his shotgun. As for his targets, Byakuya and Shinobu Togami parachute to safety after attacks from ground forces cause their helicopter to go on a crash course for the ground (with Aloysius jumping out of the helicopter with the remaining solder). After this encounter, it is unknown what happened to the Kyōju as he never encounters Byakuya and Shinobu Togami again, though given the fate of his allies its likely he may have been killed as the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen' ensued.

K2K System

It's later revealed that Hasegawa Kenkyūjo doesn't exist and it was only a product of the K2K System overlaying the characters from the Kagami Family Saga over actual people. Instead, the people affiliated with it are from the pharmaceutical company known as the Kasamori Seiyaku Kōgyō. As a result of this, the true appearance, personality and name of the one known as the Kyōju is unknown.

Mystery Kenkyūkai

Gender: Male.png Male / Male.png Male / Female.png Female / Status: Deceased
The Mystery Kenkyūkai, (lit. Mystr'y Research Society) also known as Kibogamine Gakuen Chūtō-bu Mystery Kenkyūkai, (lit. Hope's Peak Academy Affiliated Junior High School Mystery Research Society) are antagonists featured in Danganronpa: Togami. They served as underlings to the Ultimate Imposter during the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen', They are comprised of the Super Junior High School Level Mystery Maniac who is the Club President, the Super Junior High School Level Mystery Fan who is the Vice President and their Treasurer.
Appearance and Personality

The Club President, usually called the President or Prez, is a described as a glasses wearing boy wearing a school uniform with a student cap, though it was noted by the Hikikomori that it looked as if he was cosplaying. As the leader of the trio, he acts as the group's spokesperson and is generally the most mature, usually willing to fill in others about the group's motives and actions. Of the three, he holds mysteries to even higher regards than the others, most likely stemming from his title of Super Junior High School Level Mystery Maniac, and wants proper appreciation shown to the details of how they go about their locked room cases. However, he is also not above acting childishly at some points, such as posing with his friends during their introductions and gets dejected when its clear things aren't going as planned. He also has a sophisticated manner of speaking and come across as cultured.

The Vice President, or Vice Prez for short, is a boy that wears a similar outfit, but was noted to be fat and carries a biscuit tin around with him, and looked like Imotaro Gorira. Contrasting the President, Vice Prez could be rather immature and excitable, as well as being quick to anger, especially if someone were to ignore their talents. In addition to being a fan of mysteries, he also is a fan of idols as well, to the point he is easily able to identify Satomi as one and her rank in the group. That said, he can also be rather insensitive and rude, like insulting Satomi inadvertently during their meeting. Given his tendency to eat biscuits, it can be said he has a sweet tooth. His talent is the Super Junior High School Level Mystery Fan.

The Treasurer is described as girl that wears a typical sailor fuku and a sports bra underneath. She is noted by the Hikikomori to speak in a rather tomboyish manner. She claims that she loves to make herself useful to others, thus explaining why she has no qualms in serving someone she is about to kill, and often tries to cheer up her compatriots with pep talks, though it often just makes them feel even more dejected or requiring them to silence her if she says something awkward. She notes that she came into liking mysteries due to video games. Her Super Junior High School Level talent is never given, however she does have one.

All three members of the club love mysteries to a fault and are extremely proud of their talents revolving around the concept to the point they do get offended when someone, like the Hikikomori, laughs at them for it. In addition to mysteries, they all love Hope's Peak Academy and wanted to enroll in it in the future, but at the same time also hold feelings of inferiority since they were in the affiliate schools and not in the academy itself proper, as well as knowing their chances of actually being scouted were slim. In addition, while they love the academy, they did hold the administration of it in contempt and openly mocked them for their arrogance that would lead to their downfall. When they are informed that the school would eventually fall, all three snapped from the prospect of losing it and fell into despair. This despair drove them to go about their murderous locked room plan and align with Ultimate Despair, (under the alias of Zetsubō High School), in order to carve out new identities for themselves.

History:
Volume One

During their junior high school years, the Mystery Kenkyūkai made enough of a name for themselves to be scouted into Hope's Peak Junior High Division. During this time they became started a club that revolved around mystery novels. During this time there, they came into contact with those from the main course, namely those with Ultimate Despair. As a result of this contact, they learned about Hope's Peak Academy intentions with the Bible Plan and their plans involving the creation of Ultimate Hope. It was also thanks to this contact that they became aware that Hope's Peak was doomed to collapse. With this revelation, the trio snapped and fell into despair. Wanting to make new identities for themselves that were not affiliated with Hope's Peak, they aligned themselves with Ultimate Despair.

During the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen', the trio also went to Prague as the Ultimate Imposter's minions. They were given their own set of underlings and funding to accomplish their ambition before being tasked with spreading the Zetsubō Shōsetsu all about Prague in order to trick people into believing they'll fall into despair by reading it, all while working on their Operation: Global Locked Room Transformation, which was to turn the entire world into a series of locked room mysteries and was on-going in other locations globally. During this time, the trio arrived into Cesky Raj and got to work, though received word of an 'anomaly' that had killed some of their allies. During one of their locked room set-ups they would come into contact with the Hikikomori and Satomi Aoba.

Feeling that talking in front of a corpse would be unrealistic, the President had the group there move into the living room, with the Treasurer getting drinks. After the Hikikomori easily deduces that they were probably working with 'Byakuya Togami', the trio introduce themselves as being from the Junior High Division and strike old-fashioned poses, complete with their own motto. However, because he considers the affiliated schools to be as low of a par as the Reserve Course, the Hikikomori could only laugh at them, which perplexes them greatly. When the Hikikomori begins mocking them for their pride as junior high students, Vice Prez shoots back they weren't apart of the 'trash class' like the Reserve Course and that there were plenty of graduates from the affiliates. However, the Prez just tells him to let it go as it was clear the Hikikomori wouldn't respect them. The President then asks the Hikikomori about their age, but that is meant with a vague response involving the rotation of the Chinese Zodiac.

Satomi stirs the topic back towards the group and their relation to 'Byakuya', where they reveal he is their sponsor and what allowed them to go about their plans. It's during this explanation where Satomi is confused by this using 'mystr'y' instead of 'mystery', something that does catch them off guard and whats dismissed by their guests as a weird aesthetic choice. The President moves the topic towards the bodies that they decorated in likeness of both in universe such as the Takeda Haunted Mansion Case and fictional mysteries. However the Hikikomori just continues to poke through them, leaving the President dejected at how off the rails things have gotten. The Treasurer tries to give him a pep talk to cheer him up, but all her talk either makes him just as dejected, confused on what side she's on or forces him to cover her mouth due to her offering to take off her sports bra.

During this talk, the mention of the locked room operation is brought up, much to the Hikikomori's confusion. The President confirms them and shoots that their guests wouldn't understand, as well as informing that while 'Byakuya' wasn't interested in mysteries he did give them the funding and personnel to do what they want to make their dream global. The President points out they should probably get on with things and is asking the duo if they have any locked room preference before the trio kills them before the Vice Prez screams out and points at Satomi.

Vice Prez reveals that she, is in fact, an idol that is apart of Sayaka Maizono's group and that she is the fourth popular member of said group. He gushes and asks for an autograph, and even bugging the President to give him some paper for one (during this exchange, the President is quite taken aback over his Vice President being an idol fan). However, during this tirade on his explanations as to why he likes the number four girl of Sayaka's group (which involves him believing that liking the most and least popular is too mainstream), the Hikikomori uses this distraction as a mean to toss a table at the three, grab Satomi and escape from the trio in his car.

The trio gives chase in their jeep and eventually catch up to the duo which got into a serious car wreck thanks to 'Byakuya' dropping a satellite on their location at the airport. While the Hikikomori was mostly fine, the wreck had left Satomi gravely injured. When the Hikikomori begs if they could save her, they utterly refuse, with the Vice Prez even remarking he can simply move on to the third rank girl in Satomi's group. With the Hikikomori's life taking a turn for the worse, the President walks up to him and presents the Zetsubō Shōsetsu.

As the President reveals that Hope's Peak was the cause of the Zetsubō Shōsetsu, the Hikikomori remarks that if Hope's Peak didn't exist, this craziness wouldn't have happened. However, the club retorts that even if Hope's Peak never existed, something similar would take its place and such events will always come to pass. It's then that the President gives the Hikikomori the offer to read the Zetsubō Shōsetsu, all while going deeper into why it was created. Namely, the administration of Hope's Peak wanted to create a novel that could bring people of any kind of despair into hope again, akin to how the Complete Manual of Suicide prevented more people from committing suicide.

The club then revealed that Hope's Peak would be shutting down, which immensely shocks the Hikikomori and has him in despair. With an almost bitter smile on his face, the President offers up the novel to the Hikikomori and claims he wants to see his despair, and that reading it will at least give his life some bit of self-respect since his life had been roughly terrible. However, the Hikikomori refuses and rips up the novel. The club laughs and allows the Hikikomori to take Satomi in their jeep, while they accompany him to see how long his hope lasts while he does his best to save her life. During their drive, the Hikikomori finds no luck in getting any hospitals to take Satomi as they had their hands full already with other casualties from the satellite drop. During this time the club either was remarking that his efforts were futile or was caught up in their own antics.

All three were later surprised when during their drive to Dretsky Island, the Hikikomori deliberately hit a female Hope's Peak student, Shinobu Togami, with the jeep. From there he got out of the car and began brutally stomping on her and even ripped her arm off after stabbing it with a knife from the jeep. Before he could slit her throat, the Hikikomori was kicked in the crotch and then flipped over with a surprising amount of strength. As the girl used her remaining arm to lift the near unconscious man up, she demanded his name and he uttered out that it was Suzuhiko Otsuki. At that moment, Shinobu blacked out and during that time unconscious, the main personality of the Ex-Super High School Level Hitman resurfaced and went on a rampage. During this rampage, Suzuhiko killed the Vice Prez and Treasurer by slicing them in half, as well as their jeep. The President only survived due to Suzuhiko being too groggy after waking up to properly focus.

Crawling from the wreckage of the jeep and human remains, the President looked in horror at Suzuhiko and came to realize that he was the 'anomaly' that killed their allies. While Suzuhiko's memories of his other personality were fading, he does remember enough of the President to go about mocking him and rubs in the fact that he actually did have a talent all along, and that the personality that they sympathized with was nothing more than just a lie. While the President is stunned by this development, he asks about Satomi, to which Suzuhiko responds he thinks that she was lying about her broken heart. This actually relieves the President who thought he forgot about her, but Suzuhiko responds that it doesn't matter before slicing the President in half, thus putting an end to the Mystery Kenkyūkai.

K2K System

Due to the K2K system obfuscating the text, and Suzuhiko's Ambush Technique also misrepresenting the dialogue from his perspective (which in itself may also be a K2K fabrication), it is unknown how much of the above text is fabricated.

Rhinogradentia

Gender: Male.png Male / Female.png Female
The Rhinogradentia (鼻行類, Rhinogradentia) are an antagonistic group featured in Kirigiriso and later explained in Danganronpa: Togami.
Appearance & Personality:

The Rhinogradentia are rodent like creatures with brown fur and have various protrusions on their snouts such as tentacles, hands, etc. In Kirigiriso, in the Extraterrestrials vs Earth Plants Against Invaders Defense Force Route, the Rhinogradentia are portrayed as a relentless attackers in their pursuit of trying to kill Earth Defense Force, but are also noted to be not very intelligent, with their entire strategy against them being to rush in and attempt to overpower them with their numbers without much regard for traps. The Rhinogradentia do express unwillingness to attack if they see one of their own be in harms way, but will resume their assault as soon as such member is out of harm's way.

Kirigiriso mentions mostly shows the Nasobema Lyricum species of the Tetrarrhinida family, whereas Danganronpa: Togami mostly shows the Hopsorrhinus Aureus from the Sclerorrhina family.

Kirigiriso
Extraterrestrials vs Earth Plants Against Invaders Defense Force Route

The Rhinogradentia serve as the main antagonists for this joke route, with their main goal of wanting to eradicate humanity because they believe they are harming the planet. However, as noted by Kyoko Kirigiri, their limited intellect gives credence that they are more than likely foot soldiers to those that control their UFO's. Originally, they had invaded the southern islands of Hy-yi-yi and were even documented by a Swedish man by the name of Einar Pettersson-Skämtkvist, who had escaped from a Japanese detention camp during the war in the South Pacific. However, the Rhinogradentia there were wiped out due to nuclear tests and their existence was ultimately suppressed to the public.

Decades later, they would begin to invade again. This time, they sent Kyouka the True Super Galaxy level Invader, (who is an alien in this route), down to Earth and act as a spy meant to disrupt any attempts at repelling their invasion, all while going about in their UFO's. Such UFO's would be sighted by Hope's Peak Academy student, Santa Shikiba, who then sought to fight back and repel the aliens he thought were the Super Galaxy Level Invaders. After 'saving' Kyouka from being attacked by them, the Earth Plants Against Invaders Defense Force was established to repel them. During this time, Santa did manage to capture one and use as a research subject. He discovered that they were half animal and half plant, and bled green.

The night when Santa called in Kyoko Kirigiri to his mansion, the Rhinogradentia were flying about in their UFO's, which was was spotted by Kohei Matsudaira. When Kohei got out of his vehicle and walked towards Kyoko, the Rhinogradentia shot his vehicle and destroyed it, though he initially believed it was to be from a meteor. Once Kyoko and Kohei entered inside, a Rhinogradentia pursued them and tried to enter the front door. Kohei, not knowing what it was, let it in and was attacked by it, but Santa killed it with a spear.

More Rhinogradentia would come soon after when one of them set off an explosive mine that blew a hole into the mansion, thus putting the Earth Defense Force into a retreat that had them give up on the first floor. They took refuge in Santa's secret laboratory and it was there Kyoko comes up with the idea to use that captive Rhinogradentia as a bargaining tool for their safety, and believing that perhaps what they really wanted was their captive friend. Santa volunteers to let the prisoner go, but as soon as he releases it, the horde of Rhinogradentia attacks them once again. As the quartet rush to the green house of the mansion, Kyouka trips, which causes Santa to stay behind to allow her to escape. The horde attempts to kill him, but Santa blows them away with an explosive. Thus, this allows the Earth Defense Force to retreat inside the mansion and plan their next move safely for a few moments.

The plan they come up with is Operation: Absolute Bomb Cone or ABC, which involved gathering as much as the Rhinogradentia as possible into the mansion and lighting Santa's genetically modified pine cones on fire so that they would create a massive explosion and fire that would kill the invaders (though it would also burn down the mansion as well). Santa got the horde's attention attention, which allowed for his allies to get the large quantities of pine cones needed for the mission. However, the horde began to climb atop of the green house and broke through the roof to attack again. Kyoko scattered the pinecones about, but Santa (wanting to die with his creations) stayed behind to light the pine cones on fire. With his friends safety assured, Santa lit the pine cones on fire and they exploded, engulfing the mansion in flames and wiping out the Rhinogradentia forces that were there.

If there were any more Rhinogradentia that were still alive, they would have ceased their invasion with Kyouka swearing off that invasion after witnessing Santa take a brunt of their mothership's laser to save Kyouka's sakura tree.

Bad Ending 3

In this joke ending, Kohei is the one to release the hostage rhinogradentia instead of Santa, however he is swarmed by them and killed.

True Ending

They do not appear directly, however the singular celled organisms with plant and animal DNA have flagella similar to the tentacles of a Nasobema Lyricum.

Danganronpa Togami

Volume 3

A picture of a Hopsorrhinus Aureus Rhinogradentia is displayed on K's wall and noticed by Shinobu, who notes that a certain factor of the painting has piqued her interest, but also spikes her anxiety. As Shinobu was struggling to come to terms with herself after being told that Borges was distorting her reality, K brings up the Rhinogradentia and their history. This ranged from their being over fourteen subjects found, to the fact the were documented in a book called BAU UND LEBEN DER RHINOGRADENTIA which was published in 1961 by Professor Harald Stümpke. When Shinobu wonders if it was a false book, however K points out that it was published by a famous zoologist and a review of it was was even published in many scientific journals, with it covering a variety of issues modern zoology deals with. With that in mind, he asks if Shinobu felt qualified to question it. She responds that the best form of evidence had to be images and that since this took place in the 1950's their should be pictures. However, K reports that due to nuclear testing, that the island and the Rhinogradentia that were on it, were destroyed. Shinobu thinks such an ending is superficial and that without evidence, ultimately what K said can not be credible.

K then moves the topic to the Dodo and how, despite lack of evidence, ultimately she believes that those exists. Shinobu retorts that simply common sense proves that one exists and the other could not have, but K believes its simply due to a lack of knowledge. K says that reality and unreality are usually indistinguishable from the experience and that if the user passes on such fantasy as a reality, its entirely possible for a shared fantasy to be arise if a third party happens to believe it. Ultimately, K says that people are only willing to believe what they want to believe, and will refuse to accept anything that doesn't fit their views. When K says that as long as she thought Byakuya was God, Borges would do anything to back up that fact, even if it made up falsehoods, it clicks for Shinobu what he's trying to say. Once such a reasoning has taken a hold of her mind, she looks at the picture again and asks what that type of Rhinogradentia is called. K informs her that its called the Snout Leaper. She thinks the painting is now cute and wouldn't mind if such a creature existed, but notes there is a difference in believing something to exist and something actually existing. In turn, K says that belief is just enough.

K2K System

In essence, all forms of Rhinogradentia be it in a delusional joke route, or otherwise, are merely fabricated. This also confirms the non-canon routes (apart from the True End canon route) of Kirigiriso to be nothing more than unreality.

Shunin

Gender: Female.png Female / Status: Deceased
The Shunin (チーフ, lit. The Chief) is an antagonist featured in Danganronpa: Togami. She's a member of the Hasegawa Kenkyūjo, specifically the Shunin of its Hokkaido Branch, which is an organization that tried to capture Byakuya Togami during the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen'.
Appearance & Personality:

The Shunin is described as an elementary aged girl in a lab coat. Compared to her level-headed partner, the Shunin acts incredibly immature and hyperactive, often calling others 'punk'. She's immensely proud of her own intellect and often boasts about it to others, though at times her impulsivity and scatterbrained nature could lead to her taking near fatal actions (like drinking the tea she poisoned). According to her, she has known Czech since she was two and has an impressive memory, able to recount her own order down to the specific store. She claims that due to her being a genius, her brain burns more calories than normal, thus requiring her to take sugar to replenish herself or else she becomes hypoglycemic. She has no qualms in doing unethical means of gaining information, such as kidnapping, if it could get her results and has equally no problem if her methods results in someone being killed.

History:
Volume One

During the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen', Subordinate Kanai and the Shunin appeared at the Church of Bones operating the Uragan, in order to help with the mission to capture Byakuya Togami. There they used the Uragan's air attacks to attack Sonia Nevermind and Kazuichi Soda's mech. They traded attacks, but the mech had started to get the upperhand on them until Sakura Ogami intercepted the fight, and defeated their opponent with her powerful strength. During this time, the duo was joined by Taeko Kanai who began trading blows against Sakura, whilst they themselves added to the fight by using the Uragan to kick up dirt, thus preventing Sakura from finishing off Taeko. Thanks to their dust attacks obscuring Sakura's vision and hollowing out the ground, Taeko is able to scatter landmines around the area in order to trap Sakura. Thus, giving the Institute a way to capture Byakuya and Yuika with their Fullton systems. With their objective complete, the Institute members leaves as the Church of Bones collapses.

There they transported the captives over to their headquarters at Dretsky's Island, which has an old school campus. At this location, both set Byakuya outside at a white table in order to interrogate him. Both Subordinate Kanai and the Shunin tried to threaten Byakuya to spill on what he knew about the Worst Incident in the History of the Togami Family and, especially, about the secret to the Togami Corporation's prosperity. Byakuya refused and thus they tried to force the secrets out with a tea laced with a fatal truth serum. In reality, Byakuya managed to avoid ingesting the serum with use of some fake skin and pouch that was similar to the Gola Del Prete, but to avoid being found out he spilled some information regarding the secret of the Togami Corporation being the Kudan and learning about the the murderous events surrounding the 'Jiki Tōshu Kettei-sen' and that it that required Byakuya and Shinobu to use the Kudan to resolve such an incident. Eventually, Byakuya pretended to succumb to the serum, which is when Shinobu arrived.

When Shinobu arrived, both introduced themselves to her and Subordinate Kanai was ordered by the Shunin to recount the events prior to her arrival (though not before giving her a Rokkatei Marusei Butter Sandwich to stabilize her and urging the Shunin to get on with things rather than brag about her genius). This recounting also reveals the Institute's stance on wanting to know everything and anything, how they wanted to learn more about the Togami Family for a while (but didn't want to risk a fight with them until the Proclamation), Kanai promising to get the Shunin Ovocný Světozor's pomerančový dort se zakysanou smetanou when she starts destabilizing, and covering the fact that they poisoned Byakuya to get the truth regarding the incident relating to the 'Jiki Tōshu Kettei-sen' and Togami Family secret. From there, they request Shinobu to give them her account of the incident or else she would be force fed the truth serum (which no longer has an antidote thanks to the Shunin taking it after accidentally ingesting the poisoned tea). After some deliberation, Shinobu refuses and runs off. Unfortunately for the Institute members, crossing the bridge happened to be a newly awakened, former Super High School Level Hitman, Suzuhiko Otsuki who went on a rampage cutting everything on the island in half from trash cans to his own jeep. This included the duo as well, with the Shunin being sliced in half vertically, with Shinobu noting her innards were spilling out.

As a result of this, the true appearance, personality and name of the one known as the Shunin is unknown.

Subordinate Kanai

Gender: Male.png Male / Status: Deceased
Subordinate Kanai (金井さん, lit. Mr. Kanai) is an antagonist featured in Danganronpa: Togami. He's a member of the Hasegawa Kenkyūjo, an organization that tried to capture Byakuya Togami during the 'Sekai Seifuku Sengen'.
Appearance & Personality:

Subordinate Kanai is described as a redhead that wears a lab coat and carries an umbrella. Compared to the hyperactive child known as the Shunin, Kanai is more grounded and the point, often guiding the conversation back on track and chiding the Shunin for acting childishly. Still, he does dotes on Shunin and immediately comes to her aid when she's in danger of becoming hypoglycemic, and offered to buy her a cake after they were done with Shinobu. He is loyal to the Institute's mission of wanting to learn more about the world, even if the means aren't ethical, like kidnapping Byakuya and attempting to feed him a poisoned truth serum in order to acquire the necessary information.

Items

Journey Under The Midnight Sun

Kazuichi's Boss Dekotora

Kazuya's Lightsaber

Appearance:

Initially, Kazuya seemingly has a powerful magic item that he can summon through his arm that he calls "A gift from God". However it was nothing more than a sword attached to his prosthetic arm. This sword is similar to how Kyosuke Munakata's sword functions, as it is both retractable, and can become molten. The K2K System installed in his robotic eye made him think it was magical and not scientificly based.

History:

Kazuya's lightsaber first appeared in the fabricated flashback version of the Jiki Tōshu Kettei-sen, and its used to kill several of siblings (Wasuke, Yusuke, Ichiro, Asa, Yoru and Hiru) for reasons ranging from accidental, like in the case of Wasuke, or deliberate, such as the case with Yoru. It manifested when Wasuke tried to kill him, under the belief that gaining the 'reliance' meant showing enough guts to kill someone. Over the course of the competition, Kazuya gradually moves from using it as a last resort when he was found out as a killer, but using it as a means to lash out over offenses or self-defense. It makes a reappearance during the Sekai Seifuku Sengen as Kazuya's weapon of choice, with its most notable uses being when Kazuya wielded it to help Suzuhiko push back against Genocide Jack and murder Yuika Ketoin after she killed Suzuhiko Otsuki. The lightsaber was destroyed by Mukuro Ikusaba after she slashes his prosthetic arm.

The Hasegawa Kenkyūjo is from Kagami Family Saga and is merely part of the K2K Systems Unreality effect. It was overlapped over the members of the Kasamori Seiyaku Kōgyō, a pharmaceutical company that seeked to capture Byakuya Togami on behalf of the German political figures that also serve as the company's executives. Being a pharmaceutical company, they were able to create such drugs like a fatal truth serum. In addition, they also have a robotics department responsible for creating weapons like the Uragan or 'Tentacles' soldiers. Ultimately, their endeavor to acquire Byakuya ends in failure, with heavy losses on their side, such as Taeko Kanai, Shunin, and Subordinate Kanai

Kuchinashi-mura Fire

K2K System

An event mentioned in the second volume of Danganronpa: Togami. According to Kazuya Togami, it was Suzuhiko's Otsuki's first job as a hitman. However, Suzuhiko instead went on a massacre, slicing everything and everyone in the village in half before setting the area on fire. In the end, only Kazuya survived and that was due to Shinobu Togami saving him. From then on, he was adopted into the Togami Family. By the end of the trilogy, the Ultimate Imposter revealed that while the event itself did happen, ultimately Orvin Elevator (who believed he was the original Kazuya) wasn't involved in it and since this information came a fabricated memory thanks to the K2K system, it unknown how much of what described actually happened.
