The Mastermind (首謀者 Shubō-sha) is the main antagonist of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.

They are the one responsible for imprisoning the students in the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles and forcing them to participate in the Killing School Semester.

The Mastermind

In Chapter 6 the Mastermind of the Killing School Semester is revealed to be Tsumugi Shirogane, the Ultimate Cosplayer (超高校級の「コスプレイヤー」lit. chō kōkō kyū no “kosupureiyā”).

In the last trial, she explains that Danganronpa and the Killing Game they are all currently in is nothing more than mere fiction, a TV show created by Team Danganronpa that exists in order to entertain people all over the world. Tsumugi also reveals that as an employee of Team Danganronpa, she volunteered to be the Mastermind of the 53rd Season of the TV show.

The True Mastermind

The true mastermind behind the ruthless Killing School Semester is none other than the creator of the Danganronpa television show, Team Danganronpa. Known for hosting killing game-themed shows, people worldwide become addicted to them and always begged for more whenever a season reached its ending.

Team Danganronpa created 53 seasons of Danganronpa, with the Killing School Semester as the final series, due to the world collectively deciding that they no longer wish to any further killing games to happen.

The Audience

The audience is made up of people around the world who are obsessed with Danganronpa and considered as one of the True Masterminds. This was evident in the fact that they generated so much demand for killing games that Danganronpa ran for 53 seasons. They participated in the Killing School Semester as the audience, watching the show via K1-B0 as their surrogate. The audience was even able to directly influence K1-B0's actions in the game, via responding to surveys whose results would be heard by him as his "inner voice".
