The Student Council was an organization created by the Main Course students of Hope's Peak Academy.

The last known Student Council's members were killed during the first mutual killing game known as The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, except for Sōshun Murasame, who was badly wounded in the incident and a month later murdered by Yasuke Matsuda to protect Junko Enoshima, the culprit behind the incident.

Izuru Kamukura was blamed and believed to be the culprit who killed the whole Student Council, despite only killing one of them indirectly as self-defense. Junko spread rumors and also revealed that Izuru is the school's experiment, causing a riot known as the Parade, which eventually lead to the worldwide Tragedy.

The Madarai Brothers are considered unofficial members of the Student Council.

Known Members[]

Aiko Umesawa[]

Gender: Female Female / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Kaede Hondo / en-US Cassandra Lee Morris
Transparent Aiko Umesawa Aiko Umesawa (梅沢 愛子) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. She also appeared as a cameo in the OVA Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Vanquisher,[1] as part of Nagito Komaeda's imagination world. She was part of the Hope's Peak Academy Student Council, as well as a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.
Appearance and personality:

Aiko is a notably small and short girl with short, wavy, brown hair and a noticeable blush on her cheeks. She has heterochromia; her left eye is green, while her right eye is blue. She also wears a yellow bunny hoodie over the standard Hope's Peak Academy's uniform. The ears seem to mimic her expressions—when she is frightened, the ears droop. She also wears black socks and white slippers that have a bow on the instep.

She appears to have a childish and naive personality, openly worrying and complaining about the meeting time being so late despite the fact that they were sent a threatening video. She panics easily, swinging her pan randomly when Asukasei Hino tried to shoot her. She is also quick to burst into tears and very afraid of death. The fact that she eagerly trusted Tomohiko indicates that she doesn't have trust issues and believe others quite easily. As a result of these traits, Aiko is extremely vulnerable in a killing game scenario, leading to her early demise when the Killing Game started.

History:

Junko Enoshima gathered all of the Student Council and Izuru Kamukura in the old school building and forced them to kill each other. When the Killing Game started, Aiko picked a pan as her weapon and tried to defend herself when Asukasei shot randomly towards her. Her panic was lessened after Tomohiko reassured her that everything would be okay, causing her to lower her guard for a second. This resulted in her death as Tomohiko stabbed her in the abdomen before throwing her body to distract Asukasei.

Ironically, Aiko would indirectly avenge herself on her killer when he attempted to strangle Asukasei; the latter grabbed the knife from Aiko's corpse to stab Tomohiko in turn.

Aiko appeared as a cameo in Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Vanquisher, standing in front of the gates of Hope's Peak Academy in the morning.

Relationships:

Tomohiko Gōryoku:

Aiko was associated with Tomohiko and appears to have a strong trust in him, as seen when he "comforted" her and she let her guard down almost instantly. However, Tomohiko had actually been acting to gain her trust and murdered her immediately after she relaxed.

Trivia:

Asukasei Hino[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Yūichi Iguchi / en-US Christian La Monte[2] / Deutsch Leon Stiehl[3]
Asuka cutout
Asukasei Hino (日野 明日晴) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa Zero and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. He was part of the Hope's Peak Academy's Student Council, as well as a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.
Appearance and personality:

Asukasei has short dark-colored hair and reddish brown eyes. He wears glasses and the standard Hope's Peak Uniform with a bright turquoise tie.

He appears to be a serious person, not seeming to smile much even in ordinary situations. Despite appearing relatively calm during the beginning of the Killing Game, he quickly becomes aggressive and panicked once the killing begins, as shown with his screaming assaults on Tomohiko and Aiko.

By the end of the Killing Game, Asukasei has become completely unhinged, laughing madly and mocking the dead victims after he assumed he was the only survivor. However, he also vomits in shock and disgust, implying that he is still driven by fear and desperation. His newfound paranoia is reinforced when he blindly attacks Izuru, despite Izuru warning him and showing no aggression towards him.

History:

Junko Enoshima gathered all of the Student Council, and Izuru Kamukura in the old Hope's Peak Academy building. He was irritated that they had to gather so late at night, but his annoyance gave way to shock and horror when the killing actually began. When Karen Kisaragi started the Killing Game in earnest, Asukasei fearfully picked up a gun and started shooting at Aiko Umesawa and Tomohiko. After he saw Tomohiko kill Aiko, he panicked even more and continued to shoot, but was knocked over and disarmed by Aiko's lifeless body. Tomohiko then proceeded to strangle Asukasei, but Asukasei stabbed Tomohiko in the neck with the same knife that was used to kill Aiko. Asukasei then got on top of Tomohiko and stabbed him multiple times.

Asukasei ended up being the assumed sole survivor after killing Suzuko with a handgun, but Izuru approached him and told him he couldn't beat him. Asukasei didn't listen and charged at Izuru with a chainsaw; in turn, Izuru pushed Asukasei and sent him flying backwards against a window. The chainsaw fell in front of Asukasei, and he fell on it, decapitating him. Before Asukasei died, he managed to fire a shot that grazed Izuru's right cheek.

Trivia:
  • His given name, "Asukasei" (明日晴) possibly translates to "clear tomorrow."
  • His surname, "Hino" (日野) means "sun field."

Daiki Kubo[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Hajime Osawa / en-US ???
Daikikubo Daiki Kubo (久保 大器) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End ofHope's Peak Academy - Despair Arc. He is a member of Hope's Peak Academy's Student Council. He was murdered off-screen during The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.

He is also likely the boy shown in Danganronpa Zero who beat another boy, most likely Shōji Yokō, to death with a chair. He was then ambushed by another council member, most likely Asukasei Hino, being blinded by glass shards in his eyes before eventually being killed by an unspecified female Student Council member, possibly Suzuko Kashiki, wielding a cleaver.

Appearance and personality:

Daiki's features are slightly more stylized than his fellow Student Council members, with a squarish face, greenish-gray hair, and very dark brown eyes that seem to have little to no sclerae. He wears the standard uniform of Hope's Peak Academy.

Daiki is shown to be worried about the killing game but still tries to calm everyone else down. He also seems to be level-headed and logical; in the dub, he first tried to see if the remaining Student Council members could make a run for it, believing the odds of them all dying to be slim.

However, once Karen Kisaragi murders Ryōta Someya, Daiki joins the rest of the council in attempting to murder each other from a combination of panic and self-defense.

History:

Along with the rest of the student council, Daiki came to a classroom on the fifth floor of Hope's Peak Academy after being shown threatening videos by Junko Enoshima. When the Ultimate Fashionista tells them to kill each other, he and the rest of the council show extreme reluctance, even when the vice president, Kotomi Ikuta, was murdered in front of them by Mukuro Ikusaba. However, Karen Kisaragi's murder of Ryōta Someya kick-started the events of the The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, driving Daiki and his friends to turn on each other.

Daiki was murdered off-screen during the killing game.

Trivia:
  • His given name, "Daiki" (大器) means "Great Vessel", a person of outstanding talents who can accomplish a great cause.
  • His last name, "Kubo" (久保) means "for a long time" (久) and "protect" (保).

Karen Kisaragi[]

Gender: Female Female / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Honoka Inoue / en-US Elizabeth Maxwell
Karen Kisaragi Transparent Karen Kisaragi (如月 かれん) is a character featured in Danganronpa Zero and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. She was the Student Council Secretary and a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy. She was the one who started the Student Council Killing Game after she read the motive that Junko Enoshima presented to her.
Appearance and personality:

Karen has short brownish green hair, which cuts right above her shoulders and is slightly curled; notably, two of her bangs cross over each other on either side of her eyes. She has blue-green eyes behind her thin white glasses, and she wears the standard uniform of Hope's Peak Academy.

Karen cared for her mother deeply while being somewhat weak-willed or easily manipulated, as she was driven to start the Student Council Killing Game after she found out something bad happened to her mother.

She loses her sanity during the killing game and she, unlike most of the other students, appears to turn very sadistic while murdering others.

History:

Karen was one of the student council members called by Junko to participate in her new killing game. Karen was initially as reluctant as any of the council members, but she became the first to fall victim to Junko's "motivation"; when she looked in her file, she found a photograph showing something horrible happening to her mother.

Overcome with fear, Karen seized a katana and quickly impaled Ryōta, becoming the first student council member to kill. Crying incoherently about her mother's fate, she furiously tried to attack Sōshun Murasame, only to miss and get her katana lodged in a desk.

Karen later appeared in the hallways, covered in blood and wielding a chainsaw. She smiled evilly at Sōsuke, who was breaking down over the bodies of his latest victims before presumably murdering him. She eventually returned to the classroom where the carnage began, where she was killed by one of the other survivors - possibly Asukasei, as he was seen holding her chainsaw after becoming the apparent sole survivor of the killing game.

Trivia:
  • Her given name, "Karen" (かれん) written in Kanji (華蓮) could translate to "splendor flower."
  • Her last name "Kisaragi" (如月) means the second month of the lunar calendar.

Appearance and personality:

Kiriko has violet eyes and light magenta hair, with part of the latter styled into a pair of small buns. She wears the standard dress shirt of Hope's Peak Academy and a dark gray/black skirt with white undergarments. She also wears a red headband with a bow on top of her head.

Kiriko is seen to be scared and quite silent during the beginning of the killing game, though still appearing relatively calm. Later, she is shown screaming and running towards Sōsuke as she tries to kill him, presumably acting out of panic, desperation, and despair.

History:

Kiriko was summoned by Junko Enoshima late at night in Hope's Peak Academy's old school building along with the other members of the Student Council. It was revealed that she and the other members were lured by Mukuro Ikusaba and Junko by using a threatening video for each individual. From the beginning, Kiriko is shown to be scared and confused by the current situation that she faced.

Soon after the Killing Game started, Kiriko picked a shovel as her weapon and tore down the corridor in order to murder Sōsuke. Before she could murder her, Sōsuke stabbed her abdomen, leaving her to slowly bleed to death.

Trivia:
  • Her given name, "Kiriko" (桐子) means "paulownia child".
  • Her last name, "Nishizawa" (西澤) means "west stream".
  • Kiriko's Japanese voice actress, Suzuko Mimori, also voiced Hiyoko Saionji.

Kotomi Ikuta[]

Gender: Female Female / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Ai Kayano / en-US Jeannie Tirado
Transparent Kotomi Ikuta Kotomi Ikuta (生田 ことみ) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. She is the Vice President of Hope's Peak Academy's Student Council.
Appearance and personality:

Kotomi has yellow eyes and long red hair, with some strands flaring out rather dramatically. She wears a white headband and the standard uniform of Hope's Peak Academy.

Kotomi appears to be quite impulsive and possibly short-tempered, as well as protective of her friends, as she quickly reacted with notable anger when the Student Council was threatened with a killing game.

History:

Kotomi and the rest of the Student Council were summoned to Hope's Peak Academy's old building by Junko Enoshima late at night. When Mukuro announced they would kill each other, Kotomi angrily rejected the idea. Sōshun Murasame tried to calm Kotomi and the rest of his fellow Student Council members down, and Mukuro shot Kotomi, who died instantly.

Trivia:
  • Her surname Ikuta (生田) means "fresh rice paddy".
  • Kotomi's Japanese voice actress, Ai Kayano, also voiced Mikan Tsumiki.

Ryōta Someya[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Eishin Fudemura / en-US Joel McDonald
Ryouta Someya Transparent Ryōta Someya (染屋 涼太) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. He was part of the Hope's Peak Academy's Student Council, as well as a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.
Appearance and personality:

Ryōta is a short boy with blue eyes and blue hair styled in a loose "bowl cut". Instead of a dress shirt and tie, he wore a grey hoodie under the standard Hope's Peak Academy blazer. He had several stuffed animals on his pockets; a yellow teddy bear in the left pocket of his blazer, a blue teddy bear in the right pocket, and a green dragon or dinosaur in the front pocket of his hoodie.

Judging by the fact that he carried three stuffed animals on his person, Ryōta had a soft spot for plushies. He showed an impulsive, aggressive streak when he attempted to murder Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba to avenge Kotomi Ikuta's death, implying that he is extremely protective of his friends.

History:

Junko gathered all of the Student Council and Izuru Kamukura in the old school building in order to force them to kill each other. When Mukuro announced that they would begin killing each other, Kotomi opposed the idea and was murdered because of that. After Junko brought the motives and weapons into the classroom, Sōshun Murasame attempted to calm the rest of members down. Ryōta disregarded what he said and chose to pick up a shotgun, intending to murder Junko and Mukuro to avenge Kotomi's death. Sōsuke Ichino attempted to take the gun away from him, and they tussled over the gun before Sōshun told them both to stop. Sōsuke let go of the gun, and Ryōta stumbled backwards and was stabbed from behind by Karen.

Trivia:
  • He shares his first name With Ryota Mitarai, though the kanji of their names are different.

Shōji Yokō[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: None
Shojiyoko Shōji Yokō (横尾 正治) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. He was a part of the Hope's Peak Academy's Student Council, as well as a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy. He was the ninth victim.
Appearance and personality:

Shōji has yellow-green hair. He wears a necklace. He also wears a standard Hope's Peak Academy blazer with a blue shirt.

Shōji is normally quite a serious person, shown in his expression on the screen. With Shōji most likely being the boy beaten to death with a chair, it was shown he was not above begging for his life and even groveling when faced with death.

History:

As with the rest of the student council, Shōji was shown threatening videos by Junko Enoshima and he, alongside the other thirteen showed up at a classroom. on the fifth floor of Hope's Peak Academy to meet up with her. When she tells them to kill each other at first he and the rest of the council are reluctant to even when the vice president, Kotomi Ikuta, was murdered in front of them by Mukuro Ikusaba. However, they eventually did after Karen killed Ryota, an action which kickstarted the events of The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.

Shōji was murdered off-screen during the killing game. During the Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, a boy (likely Daiki) is shown beating another boy (likely Shōji) to death with a chair, even despite said boy's begging for his life.

Trivia:
  • Shōji is the only member of the Student Council to not get any lines of dialogue in Danganronpa 3.

Sōshun Murasame[]

Sōsuke Ichino[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Yoshitaka Yamaya / en-US Vic Mignogna
Sousuke Ichino Transparent Sōsuke Ichino (市野 庄助) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. He was part of the Hope's Peak Academy's Student Council, as well as a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.
Appearance and personality:

Sōsuke has yellow eyes and short red hair styled to resemble flames. He wears the standard Hope's Peak Uniform, with the jacket tied around his waist.

Prior to the beginning of the Killing Game, Sōsuke tries to act reasonable and obey Sōshun Murasame's orders. He shows a somewhat aggressive demeanor, being quick to confront Ryota over his attempt to avenge Kotomi's death; additionally, he is one of the first students to grab a weapon once Karen Kisaragi begins the killing game.

After he is forced to kill Kiriko, he is horrified and seems to feel envious rage for Tarō and Tsubasa. He kills them violently, only to break down crying in remorse immediately afterwards.

History:

Junko Enoshima gathered all of the Student Council and Izuru Kamukura in the old school building and forced them to kill each other. When Ryōta Someya picked up a gun, intending to avenge Kotomi Ikuta's death, Sōsuke tried to get him to put it down. Soshun Murasame ordered them to stop, and Sōsuke let go, causing Ryota to stumble backward, and become impaled on a katana, wielded by Karen Kisaragi.

When the Killing Game started, Sōsuke was one of the first to grab a weapon, taking a large spear. He fled into the hallway and was pursued by Kiriko, forcing him to stab her in self-defense. As Kiriko bled out on the floor, he was horrified about what he had done, asking why she made him do that and confessing that he loved her, his words implying he never told her about his feelings.

Later, Sōsuke killed both Tarō and Tsubasa as they attempted to commit a lovers' suicide, impaling the former with his spear. Seemingly fueled by envious rage for the couple after what happened to Kiriko, he screamed at Tsubasa to shut up before driving his spear through her by hitting it with Kiriko's shovel. He began crying uncontrollably after Tsubasa expired, unaware that Karen was approaching behind him with a chainsaw. She proceeded to kill him offscreen.

Trivia:
  • Of the participants of the First Killing Game, Sōsuke has the highest confirmed kill count (at 3).
    • It is assumed that Asukasei Hino is tied for highest kill count, however it cannot be officially confirmed, as the murder of Karen Kisaragi took place offscreen.

She appears to have a kind personality, as her expressions during the beginning of the killing game are especially compassionate and worried for other people, often holding her hands over her mouth. She agreed with and was calmed down by Sōshun Murasame, saying that they're all friends and thus should not kill each other. Supposedly, she later killed during the killing game, but she was shown to be very fearful and regretful.

Tomohiko Gōryoku[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Shinnosuke Ogami / en-US Brandon Potter
Tomohiko Goryoku Tomohiko Gōryoku (豪力 供彦) is a minor character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc. He was part of the Hope's Peak Student Council, as well as a participant in The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy.

His Hope's Peak Academy uniform was noticeably unique, including overalls, a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and a yellow tie.

Tomohiko appeared to be a quiet and reserved man; despite being visibly nervous, he reacted calmly when Junko Enoshima revealed she had blackmail material on them. Even during the Killing Game, Tomohiko was able to stay calm enough to trick Aiko into lowering her guard around him. However, he also had a ruthless side, as shown when he betrayed and killed Aiko to use as a distraction for Asukasei. When he started to strangle Asukasei, he appeared to have a psychotic grin, though this was likely due to him falling into despair.

History:

Junko Enoshima gathered all of the Student Council and Izuru Kamukura in the old school building and forced them to kill each other. When the killing game started, Tomohiko picked up a knife, only to find himself and Aiko under fire from Asukasei's submachine gun. Pinned down by Asukasei's wild fire, Tomohiko lured a panicking Aiko into a false sense of security by assuring her he would protect her. He then stabbed her in the gut and threw her body at Asukasei to knock him down.

With his assailant briefly incapacitated, Tomohiko ran up and pinned Asukasei down, grinning maniacally as he started to strangle him. However, Asukasei managed to grab the knife that Tomohiko used to kill Aiko and stabbed him in the neck with it. He then proceeded to stab Tomohiko multiple times after that.

Not much about Tsubasa's personality is known, though she appears to a polite young lady, and in her character design notes she is portrayed with a gentle smile. When faced with her classmates fighting, she brings her hands close to her mouth in shock and bears a worried expression. She can be heard audibly gasping when Ryōta Someya picks up a shotgun. She did not appear to fear death while setting up a suicide with Tarō, even appearing to consider dying together beautiful in a way, but is shown horrified at his death and calling out in pain as she is murdered by Sōsuke.

History:

Junko Enoshima gathered all of the members of the Student Council and Izuru Kamukura in the old Hope's Peak Academy school building. Description[]

Prior to The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy[]

Not much was known about other Student Councils before The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, except that one of them was led by Kyosuke Munakata before his graduation.

The Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy[]

The Student Council was sent a threatening, unknown video by Junko Enoshima, instructing them to meet in a classroom. Junko and Mukuro Ikusaba order them to kill each other, with the latter shooting a council member in the head to prove their seriousness. In addition, the two masterminds provided the students with incentives, which none, except Karen Kisaragi, bothered to touch.

Sōshun Murasame successfully calmed the council down for a short time until Ryota Someya was stabbed through the heart by Karen, who's incentive informed her that her mother was dead (although it's heavily implied these motives contained false information). Due to Karen's outburst, the council started killing to defend themselves, murdering everyone in sight. Sōshun managed to escape, although not without injuries, and suffered a blow to the head. The whole student council (with the exception of Sōshun) was killed in minutes, with the last student being killed indirectly by Izuru Kamukura in an act of self-defense. These actions allowed Junko to frame Izuru as the mastermind behind the event.

Post-Tragedy[]

Sonia-Nevermind-Pixel-for-Jpn-Template The section below is based on non-localized content only available in Japanese.

As such, this information is based on fan-contributed translation.

Sōshun, the council's remaining survivor, was the only one who knew of Junko's part in the student council's deaths. However, the experience and the blow to the head he had suffered had completely traumatized him, and he was left in an unresponsive state similar to coma. He received treatment from the school doctor, but it didn't seem to help. A month later, Sōshun was met by the Ultimate Neurologist, Yasuke Matsuda. Yasuke attempted to get information out of Sōshun, questioning him on the incident. Sōshun finally became responsive, claiming that he has only been acting, but his state remained unstable and a bit aggressive. Sōshun answered some of the questions, but then raged at the mention of Junko's name, seemingly losing any sanity he had left. Yasuke is then forced to kill him in order to protect Junko, who was his childhood friend. Later, Sōshun's murder was framed as a suicide.
