The Sirius Astronomical Observatory Murder Case is hosted by Tōkichirō Endō; Tadashi Asakura is the Culprit selected and responsible for the murders that occurred inside the Sirius Astronomical Observatory. Tadashi first meets Tōkichirō in a park who tells him about the organization and then says that he will reveal to him the identity of the real criminal of the one who murdered his family under one condition. Tokichiro begins to tell him about Catharsis and, to get it, he must play a game called a Duel Noir, along the way telling him different rules. Having finished with all the rules, Tokichiro says that he cannot tell him who the criminal is, until he agrees to participate in the game and gives him one night to think it over and asks him to come to the park at ten o'clock in the morning. Tadashi accepts and says goodbye to the old man.
Five detectives are contacted to solve a case located on the Sirius Observatory who all first arrive at Hatesaki Station. Yui Samidare (DSC 888), Kyoko Kirigiri (DSC 919), Eigo Amino (DSC 367), "Shīta Enbi", and Kō Inuzuka (DSC 943)— were the detectives who were called to the case. The Detective group later arrived at the Sirius Astronomical Observatory and started to investigate the building and its furnishings. However, Yui along with the other detectives was tricked as the client never showed up, but instead, they ended up in another situation.
Later when Yui and Kyoko woke up, together they investigate the mystery surrounding the Observatory. The culprit, Tadashi is later revealed when he surrenders in front of Yui and Kyoko after the latter threatens to burn the building to the ground, to which they find him hiding in a small chair. Yui asks him who he is, to which he replies that his name is Tadashi Asakura. Tadashi confesses that he killed three people and lost, and later says that he sent an order on behalf of Ooe Yoshizono to five detectives to collect them in this place. He also adds that in Shita's letter, he indicated the time of gathering a little earlier to call him in advance before he killed, dismembered, and hid him in the telescopes and the chair, while he pretended all this time to be Shita and did not let anyone go to the telescopes. Tadashi was surprised that a novice detective like Kyoko was able to defeat him and asked her when she first noticed that the chair in which she sat, hid him, to which she says that this was part of her analysis from the very beginning.
Both Tōkichirō Endō and Mikado Shinsen hosted the final parallel, and intitially, Yui was called upon a meeting with Tōkichirō, with the old man wishing she would make a decision regarding the offer and the results of her sister's murderer. At first she conemplates taking revenge and accepting the offer to assemble her deck, but she waits until Tōkichirō's assigned time in which she returns with her decision.
A little time before the designated meeting, Samidare meets Mikado Shinsen, in which they converse a little regarding her intent and the role she will play, with her refusing to take the role as the 'Victim'. Mikado talks about the intent of him and the VCC, stating that he created the Committee to 'save' others he couldn't save himself, and to eventually uncover someone who would be the "Ultimate" Detective. He also states that she should cut off her emotions, and help Kyoko 'save' the future- Speaking of Kyoko in a way and how she can change the world, seeing the potential in her. He also stated that she would be taken out if Yui were to reject the assigned Duel Noir.
Yui contemplates 3 options-
1) To accept the offer and risk losing herself,
2) To reject the offer at the cost of Kyoko's life, or
3) To kill Shinsen right here and now.
While those thoughts has passed through her mind, Mikado speaks up that even if he would get killed, the Committee would still flourish and operate in an 'automatic' state. He opens his handkerchief to reveal a silver blade, in which he aims it at his temple to prove a point that Yui will do anything for Kirigiri and just as she screams for him to stop, Mikado ends his life. Another man, Fuhito Kirigiri, rushes over and concludes that indeed he is deceased, in which Mikado lays lifeless at the bench. Yui leaves the scene to a train, in which she meets Tōkichirō Endō again, informing him of her decision.
Kyoko and Yui make preparations and they are dropped to the location, then meeting 3 other people: Yukimura Shiroko - DSC 880, Kadomi Senshi - DSC 920, and Yuhain.

|Eigo Amino (綱野 英吾) was a member of the Detective Library that was called alongside four other detectives to the Sirius Observatory. Upon arriving there he, unknowingly, took part in a Duel Noir where he was murdered by the culprit.|
Eigo wears a long coat and looks like a normal salaryman to the rest of the world. He has brunette hair, brown eyes, and brown eyebrows, which match what he's wearing. Yui Samidare describes him as having no "individual personality" as a result of his looks. He also carried a briefcase around with him.
Eigo is an arrogant slacker, but despite his personality, he sucks up to those of higher rank than him, such as Ko. In contrast, he looks down on those of lower rank than him in order to inflate his ego and is very insecure about his own rank. He can also be very rude towards others.
Throughout his time at the Sirius Observatory, he's shown to be easily annoyed and is rattled by the situation. He frequently suggests abandoning the case when it becomes clear something is wrong, showing a sense of pragmatism. He has shown a lack of foresight, such as not prepping supplies if he finds himself stranded. He seems to enjoy listening to music while reading and has a smoking addiction.
Eigo is a 35-year-old detective and specializes in business crime and ranked 7. His DSC number is 367. On December 22, He was called to the Sirius Observatory by Tadashi Asakura under the alias of Yoshizono Ooe. He accepted and was joined alongside four other detectives: Kyoko Kirigiri, Yui Samidare, Kō Inuzuka and Shita Enbi at the Hatesaki Station. During their escort trip to the Observatory by van, Eigo bragged about his rank and was rude to Ko as a result of the detective's behavior and appearance, until he was shown Ko's standing outranked him. From there, he began sucking up to him, acting as his apprentice, and letting Ko teach him about the Observatory.
When the van let them out in the middle of nowhere, he complained and tried to coax the driver who refused to continue onward. However, he was stopped by Ko and joined the others in walking to the Observatory. Once there, and their investigation showing no one else was present, he suggested they leave the Observatory, but is swayed to stay by Ko's believing this is a test, as well as the fact a blizzard was currently blocking their way back. When the five agreed to split up to continue their investigation, he offered to join up with Yui and Kyoko, but only did so in order to take a smoke break. However, he reported feeling dizzy before ultimately falling unconscious, a fate that applied to the rest of the detectives.
During this time, he was returned to his room and killed via dismemberment by the culprit of the case Tadashi Asakura who posed as Shita, with his body parts aside from his head being switched with another. After Tadashi's defeat, it was revealed Eigo was killed merely as a way to complete his murder trick.

|Kō Inuzuka (犬塚 甲) was a member of the Detective Library that was called alongside four other detective to the Sirius Observatory. Upon arriving there he, unknowingly, took part in a Duel Noir where he was murdered by the culprit.|
Yui Samidare initially thinks Kō is a poor drunk man, judging from his looks. Her impression of him changes drastically after Kō deduces her lifestyle simply by taking a look at her. Despite his love for alcohol, Kō is a keen detective and takes on the role of a wise mentor figure towards the others. However, he also likes to show off his easily obtainable knowledge, indicating he loves trying to make himself seem impressive.
However, this love for the spotlight does reveal something darker when its revealed Ko would do anything to raise his rank in the Library, even if it means committing arson and killing others if it gives him a way to shoot up quickly. He also is implied to be somewhat perverted.
Kō is 41 years old, making him the oldest detective of the group, and specializes in murder. He also has the highest rank. His DSC number is 943. Back in his school years, he was a part of his schools astronomy club. On December 22nd he was called out by Tadashi Asakura under the name of Yoshizono Ooe to meet up at the Sirius Observatory and met up with four other detectives at Hataski Station, being the fourth to arrive. There he met Yui Samidare and, while the girl was initially disapproving of his behavior, showed himself as a capable detective by figuring out her lifestyle just by observing her alone. From there, he joins the other detectives in entering a van that will take them to the Observatory. During the ride, he was insulted by Eigo Amino until he silenced him by revealing his DSC rank, which was higher than anyone else in the van. As a result, this caused Eigo to fawn over him and allowed him to explain his knowledge on astronomy and the Observatory (something that Yui points out was either out of date or could be looked up easily). When the van stopped in the middle of nowhere and they were forced to continue on, Kō managed to get Eigo from threatening the driver and to continue onward. When asked about what he plans to do about the heat, he mentions sharing the booze with the other men whilst, perversely, mentioning the girls could "share their body heat".
Once they arrive, he and the other detectives get to work investigating the Observatory when their proxy doesn't arrive. During this investigation, he gives an explanation of the type of telescope that goes there and pushes for the others to stay, assuming that this was merely a test. He teamed up with the detective, Shita Enbi, for another investigation, and when they reported back, Kō fell unconscious as a result of ingesting drugged cans of coffee that was given out during the van ride.
During his time unconscious, he was placed back in his room and was killed by Tadashi Asakura via dismemberment alongside, Eigo and Shiita. All three had their body parts switched with each other. After Tadashi's defeat, it was revealed that Kō was actually an arsonist who, as a detective, solved his own crimes to raise his DSC rank. Years ago, he was the serial arsonist that burned down multiple private homes in a neighborhood and pinned the blame on an astrologist who, allegedly, committed suicide. At the time, he got away with it and received acclaim. Tadashi Asakura was one of the victims that had lost his family due to the arson and his legs had to be amputated. Because of this, Tadashi grew bitter and accepted the Duel Noir to exact revenge on Kō.
