Exisals Assemble!

The Exisals (エグイサル) are giant animal-like killing machine robots who are piloted by the Monokuma Kubs, featured in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. They are used to guard the school and punish the students who break the school rules, as well as to reconstruct the school area.

According to Monosuke, they're highly mobile, bipedal weapons platforms. They can be either directly controlled by the Monokuma Kubs or do their work through autopiloting.

Appearance

The Exisals are giant, monkey-shaped killing machine robots. They have a metallic high-structured body with massive arms, long tail and sticking out wires around their body. Their left arm is human-like, while their right arm is used for the weapons (a saw and a gun). They have didactyl right foot and three-fingered left foot. On a right shoulder they wear two-colored shoulder strap.

Similarly to the Monokubs, the Exisals have notable colors on top of their head with the word "Exisal" written in it, each one of them representing the color of the Monokubs (red, blue, yellow, pink and green).

During gameplay segments, the Exisals appear about 2.5x the height of a normal human seeing as they can fit within the school corridors and rooms.

Abilities

Vast Strength

Being large mechanical robots that were designed to enforce the rules of the Killing Game, the Exisals are quite powerful, able to knock out a regular human without much effort.

They can also move quite fast despite how bulky they are, as shown when Monodam chased after Shuichi Saihara and Kaede Akamatsu in the narrow corridor using his own Exisal, and when K1-B0 fought against the Exisals during the final chapter.

Cleaning and Construction

Throughout the game, the Exisals are shown to be able to clear away large amounts of rubble and vegetation around the academy while on autopilot. They can also be seen working on adding new floors to the school.

Assortment of Powerful Weaponry

Being described by Monosuke as "powerful weapons platforms", the Exisals have a large arsenal of weaponry at their disposal.

Voice Changer

The Exisals have a voice changer with the ability to perfectly replicate a voice, as shown when Kaito Momota used the red one to disguise as Kokichi Oma.

Posture Mimicking

The Exisals can mimic the gestures of the person controlling it, supposedly to communicate more effectively. For example, while Kaito pretends to be Kokichi in Chapter 5 with the voice changer, the Exisal is seen still using his postures such as having his left hand behind his head.

History

Creation

The Exisal Units were created by Team Danganronpa, a group of people who created the famous reality show called Danganronpa. They were build as a high advanced mechanical robot to supervise the Killing Games, they are probably have always been used by the Monokubs. Their creation is unknown and in which Killing Game they started to appear. Their most notable appearance is the latest Killing Game entry, the 53rd season of the show.

Killing School Semester

Main article: Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

The Exisals are highly advanced animal-shaped robots who rule the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles along with Monokuma and the Monokubs. The Monokubs use the Exisals robots to corner the students to the gymnasium, where they started to fabricate a group of talentless fifteen students before participating the 53rd Killing Game. Within the show's story, they were originally created to protect the students participating in the Gofer Project from danger on other planets.

Trivia

  • Their role is similar to that of the Monobeasts in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Both are non-sentient robots used as Monokuma's enforcers, and both are gradually taken out of commission over the course of the game. However, the Exisals have a more major role in the overall plot.
  • The Exisals' appearance has a resemblance to monkeys and their Japanese name was commonly translated as "Nasty Monkeys" before the official English translation was revealed.[1] [2]
